Phi Sigma Sigma

We are a dynamic, principled, passionately committed group of women from around the world who define ourselves not by our distinct differences, but by what we have in common. And that common bond is a firm belief that women of different religions, cultures, backgrounds and viewpoints working together can and do make a difference in our communities, and in the world, every day.

Founded in 1913 in New York City, Phi Sigma Sigma is internationally recognized as a progressive, successful women’s philanthropic and social organization with cutting-edge leadership programming for college students, active clubs and special events for alumnae from coast to coast, a new Headquarters, a strong Foundation, state-of-the-art technological capabilities, and a strategic focus on our future.

FOUNDING

Phi Sigma Sigma was founded on November 26, 1913, at Hunter College in New York City by 10 progressive young women who shared a passion for excellence and envisioned an inclusive sisterhood. The result was the first nonsectarian sorority, meaning women of all backgrounds, faiths, beliefs and cultures were welcome to join at a time when that was not the norm.

POLICIES & PHILOSOPHIES

Phi Sigma Sigma provides a premier membership which includes the well-being of its members. We expect our sisters to be active members of the chapter and campus community, to follow the law, our policies and campus policies and to take care of one another.

PHILANTHROPY

The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation’s philanthropic cause is School and College Readiness. By providing the next generation with the resources necessary to succeed in the classroom, we are also helping to prepare the next generation to succeed outside of the classroom.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR
GRAND ARCHON

Check out a welcome message from our
Grand Archon, Katie Vlietstra Wonnenberg.

The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation is proud to fund leadership programming, offer scholarships and educational grants and provide resources for philanthropic and service oriented events directly benefiting our collegians, our alumnae sisters and the world around us. Our women live by our virtues everyday by serving both their communities through raising money to support worthwhile causes and by donating their time to projects and causes in which they believe.

The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation’s philanthropic cause is School and College Readiness. By providing the next generation with the necessary classroom resources, we are helping to prepare the next generation to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom.
