Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation Announces New Scholarship

The Marcie Sabrin Berson Service Scholarship is the highest scholarship amount to be awarded in 2021

The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation today announced the creation of the Marcie Sabrin Berson Scholarship, generously sponsored by Marcie Sabrin Berson, Beta Chapter at Tufts University. This scholarship will be the highest scholarship amount awarded in 2021.

“Marcie has been a long-time supporter of Phi Sigma Sigma and the Foundation and we are pleased to recognize her generous contributions through the establishment of this new scholarship,” said Vanessa Freeman Zerhusen, Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation President. “We hope this award will provide the needed financial support to sisters in need who serve their community and live our values on a daily basis. There is no greater gift we can give our sisters than the support of our sisterhood.”

The Marcie Sabrin Berson Service Scholarship supports sisters who have true financial need, demonstrate strong academic achievement and are committed to service through volunteering, strong chapter participation or high levels of involvement in their campus community. This award will be available to both undergraduate and graduate students.

“Phi Sigma Sigma has given me so much over the years, both as a collegiate member and as an alumna. I am proud to give back and support our sisters of today,” said Marcie Sabrin Berson. “It is my hope that the recipients of this award will truly understand the love and support of Phi Sigma Sigma, and one day give back to Phi Sigma Sigma in recognition of all it has given them.”

Marcie Sabrin Berson joined the Beta Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma at Tufts University. Following graduation, she continued to stay involved, serving in a variety of roles supporting the Convention Committee and NPC Delegation as well as supporting our chapters in the roles of advisor and chapter key advisor. She currently serves as an advisor to the Beta Rho Chapter at Drexel University and Iota Nu Chapter at Sacred Heart University, and is a member of the Volunteer Development Task Force.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation is able to give thousands of dollars worth of scholarship and grant money to collegians and alumnae each year. In support of our Founders' mission "the advancement of womanhood," these funds enable sisters to achieve excellence, impact their communities and change the world.

The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation is proud to fund leadership programming, offer scholarships and educational grants, and provide resources for philanthropic and service-oriented events directly benefitting our collegiate and alumnae sisters, as well as the world around us. The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation’s philanthropic cause is School and College Readiness. Our members support their local Title I school partners through a variety of initiatives designed to meet the specific needs of each community. From equipping students with the necessary tools to succeed through school supply drives and backpack and pencil builds, to supporting enriching extracurricular activities as volunteers and planning innovative leader programming, our members continue to foster the next generation of leaders.
