Phi Sigma Sigma Remembers Carol Bodian Schwartz



Phi Sigma Sigma was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Carol Bodian Schwartz, Zeta Chapter at the University of California – Los Angeles, on January 15, 2022. Carol was a longtime dedicated volunteer of Phi Sigma Sigma.


"Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with Carol’s family and friends. The entire Phi Sigma Sigma family mourns the loss of a sister and friend who will is now part of our chapter eternal," said Grand Archon Katie Vlietstra Wonnenberg. “Carol was a dedicated Phi Sigma Sigma sister and volunteer, giving so much back to this sisterhood. Her impact in Phi Sigma Sigma will continue to live on through the lifelong friendships she shared and the influence she has made in the lives of so many sisters.”

As a longtime volunteer for Phi Sigma Sigma, Carol served in a variety of roles including serving as a director on both Supreme Council and the Foundation Board. Additionally, Carol was an active member of the Los Angeles Alumnae Panhellenic serving as the Phi Sigma Sigma representative for many years.


Carol’s legacy continues to live on through the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation’s Bertha and Mac Bodian Scholarship. Carol established this scholarship in loving memory of her mother and father, Bertha and Mac Bodian, who strongly believed in academics and in Phi Sigma Sigma. This scholarship is awarded to a sister who has shown exemplary service and leadership in Phi Sigma Sigma and on her campus and who exhibits high academic achievement. Gifts to the Bertha and Mac Bodian Scholarship can be made through the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation.
