Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation Announces the Theta Centennial Scholarship

The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation is proud to announce the creation of the Theta Centennial Scholarship, established in celebration of the Theta Chapter at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Centennial celebration in 2023. We look forward to announcing the first scholarship award winners as a part of our 2024-2025 scholarship program.

“The Theta Centennial Scholarship is an incredibly meaningful way to honor the chapter’s 100-year anniversary, solidifying their legacy by supporting future Theta Chapter sisters,” said Foundation President Vanessa Freeman Zerhusen. “I am incredibly proud of the hard work and success of the Theta Chapter alumnae in raising the funds to establish their scholarship so quickly. I also want to recognize and extend a special thank you to the Theta Centennial Steering Committee - it is because of their hard work and dedication that this project reached completion in such a short time frame. Theta Chapter sisters, alumnae and fellow supporters have demonstrated the true meaning of sisterhood, rallying around an important cause – supporting today’s collegiate members as they continue their education.”

The Theta Centennial Scholarship was established by Theta Chapter alumnae to celebrate the chapter's Centennial and to ensure the perpetuity of Theta Chapter. This award is presented to collegiate members of Theta Chapter who are current juniors as defined by the University of Illinois and demonstrate service to the sorority, to fraternity/sorority life or to the campus; and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better. Preference will be given to collegians who have served or are serving on the chapter executive board.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation is able to give thousands of dollars’ worth of scholarship and grant money to collegians and alumnae each year. In support of our Founders' mission "the advancement of womanhood," these funds enable sisters to achieve excellence, impact their communities and change the world.
