"I stay for the sisters I meet and the ones I will meet one day. The sisters I advise and my fellow volunteers teach me so much and remind me of the oaths I took and continue to live by."
How has Phi Sigma Sigma impacted you both as a collegian and an alumna?
Where to begin?! Gaining best friends from my chapter and volunteering experiences. I met my husband through Greek life and was luckily enough to have my parents be proud Phi Sig supporters. I networked using Phi Sig on my resume and the help from sisters for all of my jobs since joining my freshman year of college. I have become a better version of myself; more confident, compassionate and understanding about the word around me through all the opportunities fraternity has given me. I know without a doubt, I would not be who I am or where I am without Phi Sigma Sigma.
Why did you choose to volunteer and why do you continue to stay involved? I had an amazing experience as a collegian and I wanted to make sure future members had an even better experience! I stay for the sisters I meet and the ones I will meet one day. The sisters I advise and my fellow volunteers teach me so much and remind me of the oaths I took and continue to live by.
What is your favorite memory as a Phi Sigma Sigma volunteer? Working with the ritual committee and being able to really dive into our past and help build our sisterhood around ritual. One thing I will never forget is corresponding with Past Grand Archon Louise Kier Zirretta about her love for our ritual. It brought us together even though we had never met, but we were brought together by Phi Sigma Sigma. What advice do you have for our seniors as they prepare to transition to alumna life? Keep your contact information updated on the Fraternity website, stay up to date on the Foundation happenings and remember Once a Phi Sigma Sigma, Always a Phi Sigma Sigma. There are sisters everywhere so go out and build those relationships!
You get out of your alumna experience what you put in it. Volunteer, donate or cheer on your sisters through social media. Be proud of your membership!
