The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation established the Sapphire Circle Emergency Assistance Grant program to provide assistance to collegiate and alumnae members experiencing extreme financial hardship due to events like natural disasters, medical issues, unemployment, or housing difficulties.
This program honors our mission of perpetuating the advancement of womanhood and supporting our twin ideals "the brotherhood of man and alleviation of the world’s pain" by offering emergency funds to those in need, reminding our sisters that their sisterhood stands behind them in times of crisis, ready to offer aid and care. Funds for the grants come from the Sapphire Circle fund and are allocated based on the needs of the applicant.
The process for receiving financial assistance through the Sapphire Circle Emergency Assistance Grant program is simple and confidential. All applicants must complete the online application and provide the requested supporting documentation to be considered for a grant. Additionally, applicants must be current on their collegiate or alumnae dues, and an active member of the Phi Sigma Sigma Fraternity

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR ASSISTANCE?
Collegiate or alumnae members of Phi Sigma Sigma who are experiencing financial hardship due to natural disasters, medical issues, unemployment, housing difficulties, or other unexpected crises.
HOW MUCH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE CAN I RECEIVE?
The amount awarded varies based on individual need and available funds but is intended to provide meaningful financial relief during difficult times.
WHAT TYPE OF EXPENSES ARE COVERED?
Grants may be used to cover essential expenses such as medical bills, housing costs, food, clothing, utility payments, and emergency repairs.
HOW DO I APPLY?
Complete the application form online and submit the requested additional documentation as outlined in the application. Applications may only be submitted by the sister requesting assistance. Applications are confidential and reviewed on a rolling basis.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE THE GRANT, IF APPROVED?
Applicants will be notified within 4-6 weeks of submission. Approved funds will be disbursed shortly after notification.
CAN I APPLY MORE THAN ONCE?
Yes, if you continue to face financial hardship, you may reapply; however, applicants should provide updated documentation of their circumstances.
