Experience
THE EXPERIENCE

Participation includes an in-person Emerging Leader gathering at the Phi Sigma Sigma house at Rutgers University - New Brunswick (about 25 miles from the Newark Airport).

THE PROGRAM

This multi-day training will focus on implementing leadership skills and developing a personal leadership trajectory for the participants to use within their own chapter and campus community. The Emerging Leader Program is comprised of a cohort of 25-30 participants who engage in leadership workshops over the course of three days. The workshops are a combination of hands-on activities, team activities, personal reflection and engaging discussions. The leadership topics discussed are applicable not just in Phi Sigma Sigma, but in the greater campus and community.

GALLUP CLIFTONSTRENGTHS

Phi Sigma Sigma is proud to offer programming rooted in the Gallup CliftonStrengths philosophy. The assessment force ranks each individual’s strengths, identifying the underlying qualities that energize us. This tool uniquely focuses on your energy, potential and growth mindset. CliftonStrengths is used in a wide variety of industries and academic settings. Many campus leadership development and career services offices use this assessment. This is also used in corporations and business as a tool to build positive working cultures.

Emerging Leader participants will complete the Gallup CliftonStrengths assessment. During the in-person gathering, participants will explore and dive deeper into their strengths.

LIVING IN THE HOUSE

At the in-person gathering, participants have the opportunity to experience living in a Phi Sigma Sigma house! Participants will be staying in double or triple rooms with sisters from across the country. On-site parking is available at the designated parking lot. The Phi Sig house is walking distance from the Rutgers University campus, downtown New Brunswick and has a Starbucks right next door! Various food options (with sensitivity to various dietary needs) are provided during the program by a chef.

MEETING NEW SISTERS

The Emerging Leader Program incorporates sisters from all different chapters, giving participants the unique opportunity to meet sisters from across the country, hear about different member experiences and forge lifelong friendships. Each session of the Emerging Leader Program has no more than one representative from each Phi Sig chapter, so everyone participating will come into the experience independently. Participants of this program grow close to each other, and in addition to leadership skills, valuable friendships are made.
